Snowfall in Attica, very low temperatures throughtout Greece on Thursday

Snow has fallen in the region of Attica on Thursday and is expected on Friday morning as well, even in areas with a low altitude, the meteo service of Athens National Observatory said.
Already the mountains surrounding Athens (Hymetus, Penteli, Parnitha) are snow covered, as are the hills surrounding Thessaloniki.
Very low temperatures, rain and snowfall along with strong winds are the main characteristics of the weather in Greece on Thursday morning. The lowest temperatures recorded by meteo stations on Thursday were -6.4C in the village Vlasti of Kozani, -4.7C in Vytina, in Arcadia, Peloponnese and -4.7C in Mavrolithari, central Greece. The temperatures were even lower in ski resorts and hiking shelters, such as in Kaimaktsalan ski resort where the minimum temperatures was -12.3C.
