Holy Synod finally decrees churches closed to the public during Holy Week
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
After the necessary clarifications given by the Holy Synod and the clear message to the faithful that the churches will be closed on Holy Week, the citizens will not be able to go to temples either for the Liturgies or to worship the Epitaph.
However, because there are fears of attendance outside churches, police will make discreet surveillance outside churches to avoid such phenomena.
The Undersecretary of Civil Protection, Nikos Hardalias, was also clear on this issue, saying that "individual worship is not provided for in exceptional reasons for movement, so the churches are closed to the public." It's a sacrifice we have to make for the common good right now. The national effort must not be jeopardized. We will light our candle in the church when this unprecedented crisis for everyone ends.
For now, we will be content with individual prayer, next to the icons that everyone may have in their home. The Holy Liturgies will be broadcast on television, on the radio, on the internet. "
It is important that more and more scientists are placing themselves around the coronavirus pandemic and sounding the alarm to citizens that they should be careful and adhere to the rules as we have not yet gotten rid of the virus.
