Three asylum seekers were arrested as responsible for the violent incidents that broke out on Saturday at VIAL hotspot on Chios. Police said that a large number of people are detained.
The Migration Ministry insists on the identification of all those involved in the incidents during which two cars, a canteen, tents and housing containers were burned at the camp around the reception and identification centre.
According to information, the incidents broke out in the afternoon when it was known that a 47-year-old woman from Iraq died from a febrile illness.
Rumours that the woman died from COVID-19 triggered the incidents during which police made use of chemicals.
The woman was transferred on Holy Thursday to hospital with fever and received instructions and medication, she also underwent blood test for coronavirus which was found negative.
