Featured Erdogan again threatens Greece, this time over turning the Hagia Sophia into a mosque

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made new threats against Greece concerning the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque, but also the EEZ and the memorandum with Libya on Monday night.

Responding to a reporter's question about the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and its conflict with Greece, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that "Turkey will not make the slightest concession."

Referring to Turkey's maritime borders and drilling in the Mediterranean, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has argued that his country is only active in areas under the jurisdiction of Turkey and Libya.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on Greece to "learn better" what the country's dynamics are and where its borders are in relation to Turkey. "We did not have seismic research ships or drillings. We now have three wells and two seismic research vessels," he said of his country's activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan: Greeks are attacking our mosques
"They are attacking our mosques, we are warning them and they are not listening to us," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, referring to Greece's reactions to the Turkish president's efforts to turn a cultural heritage monument into a mosque.

"It simply came to our notice then. They say you will not turn it into a mosque. Are you people of the Turkish administration? " Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted. "It simply came to our notice then. We will not take permission from you. As a rule of law, we are waiting for the decision of the Council of State. After the decision, we will act accordingly," he said, referring to his ally Bahceli's statements on the matter.

Commenting on the conversion of Hagia Sophia from a museum into a mosque, which will be considered by the Turkish State Council on July 2, Nationalist Action Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli of Turkey said: "Hagia Sophia is a symbol, a symbol of conquest by the Turkish Muslim people. This is a truth that does not change and everyone must realize it. By the will of Allah, the ezani will be heard from the minarets of Hagia Sophia and not the sound of the bell ".
