New provocations from Ankara after the proposal for dialogue in the eastern Mediterranean

Following messages in the past 48 hours about an alleged dialogue in the eastern Mediterranean, Turkey resorts once again to its tactics of provocation and threats.
In an interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung, when asked how Turkey would react if Greece blocked the search for hydrocarbons in the Aegean, the country’s foreign minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, replied: “No one will dare to stop us: this is about our sovereign rights, which we will defend”.
For its part, Athens makes the de facto de-escalation of Turkey’s provocative actions a precondition for dialogue.
Greek Minister of National Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos clarified that there can be no dialogue with Turkey under blackmail.
At the same time, he pointed out that if Ankara proceeds, as it has announced, with the research in the sea area south of Crete, this will mean a violation of Greece’s sovereign rights and will not be tolerated.
