DEFEA 2021: "OPLITIS" - The Greek tactical armored vehicle
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
One of the exhibits that has really attracted the interest of several officials and members of the domestic and international defense industry in DEFEA 2021, is the Greek armored tactical vehicle called "OPLITIS" (HOPLITE) manufactured by EODH and has special technical and operational characteristics.
"OPLITIS" has a protection and shielding system which allows it to operate and deploy in missions under adverse terrain and weather conditions, while its imposing "presence" attracts the gazes of visitors at the DEFEA 2021 Exhibition.
The basic version of the 4 × 4 regular vehicle can carry 8 people with a special configuration inside, to protect personnel and equipment from vibrations, with an integrated system of protection and safety from enemy fire, displaying resistance against improvised explosive devices and mines (Mine Resistant). It also has a 20mm remote-controlled cannon, and what really impresses is the ability to "open in two" at the touch of a button thanks to its modular design, allowing engineers and technicians to control or if necessary repair possible damage to the mechanical part of the vehicle.
"OPLITIS" can integrate and be equipped with various types of weapons systems, depending on the nature of the operations it will carry out, such as anti-tank missiles and sensors, while its configuration is adapted for use by Security Forces for policing and border surveillance. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most impressive exhibits of DEFEA 2021, as well as a typical example of the ability of the Greek defense industry to create and develop reliable products, with great perspective and suitability not only for the needs of the Greek Armed Forces, but also for international customers. .
