- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Two Greek citizens, aged 48 and 58 years, were arrested on violations of the laws "For the Protection of Antiquities and Heritage" and "On Weapons," after a thorough investigation of the police bureau of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage from Thessaloniki.
Specifically, at noon on 9 February, bureau officers conducted an inspection of stores of interest to health inspectors, owned by the 48 year old in a village in Serres, where they found and seized the following:
A portable icon depicting Saints Constantine and Helen
A portable icon depicting John the Baptist
An air revolver.
According to opinion by a competent archaeologist of the 12th Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities Kavala , the first icon falls within the protective provisions of the aforementioned Law.
As a result of the police investigation, the icons were supplied by the 58 year old, on the morning of the same day.
The arrested individuals will be brought before the competent authorities.
