Man kills wife in Kavala

"I did a bad thing to my wife", were the first words that the 50-year-old husband-killer said on the phone to the police, confessing to his crime that was committed on Thursday afternoon inside the pharmacy held by the unfortunate woman.

The couple, who have two minor children aged six and ten, have been facing various problems lately and had initiated divorce proceedings.

The 55-year-old reportedly killed his wife by strangling her. Everything unfolded shortly before 17:00 yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

The 55-year-old, for reasons unknown until now, chocked the 43-year-old in a kitchenette that was in the pharmacy area and then tried tounsuccesfully end his life.

Shortly after 12 a.m., he called the duty officer at the local police station, saying that he had harmed his wife and that he had tried to commit suicide.

Police rushed to the scene and found the woman dead in a bed on the roof behind the pharmacy, while next to her was the 55-year-old, who was bleeding.

It seems that the perpetrator moved his wife's body there, after the murder.

The autopsy of the authorities revealed that the 43-year-old had signs of strangulation on her throat.

The 55-year-old, who has knife wounds to his wrists and neck, was taken to Kavala Hospital where he is being treated under police guard.

The couple, originally from Amygdaleonas, had two children together, aged 10 and 6.

The case is being investigated by the Local Department of Kavala.

Third femicide in 2022

This is the third female homicide recorded in 2022.

In March, a 41-year-old woman expired in Thessaloniki after being shot by her ex-partner with a shotgun.

Last February, a 69-year-old man killed his 79-year-old American wife in Ioannina, when he beat her to death after an argument.
