Α 4-year-old girl from Volos who was bitten by a viper is still being treated in the ICU of the Hippocrates hospital in Thessaloniki.
According to what has been known so far, the little girl was with her grandmother in the village cemetery and was playing, while the old woman was doing cleaning work. When she went to catch the dust pan, the snake came out of the grass and managed not one, not two, but four bites on her arm.
From the Larissa hospital to the Hippocrates ICU
The little girl was taken to the hospital in Volos, where she was given anti-venom serum, but the 4-year-old also experienced an allergic reaction. She was taken to the hospital of Larissa, where the doctors there judged her condition to be critical and requested that she be transferred to the Hippocrates hospital.
According to what Christos Tzelepis, vice-president of the workers' union of the Hippocrates hospital, told MEGA channel, the little girl is in the ICU of the hospital and has not been intubated.
"It seems that the little girl is responding to the medication, because she is in a stable and good condition. We hope it will go better," he said. As Mr. Tzelepis mentioned, the little girl was transferred to Hippocrates, as the hospital has specialized ICU beds.
Doctors are optimistic about the course of the 4-year-old girl's health, as the child has responded to medication.
