US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expresses his solidarity and "sincere condolences" for the loss of the two pilots in the Canadair crash.
As he says in a post on X (the former Twitter), "I express my sincere condolences to the Greek people and to the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as thousands of people are being evacuated due to the forest fires.
Our thoughts are with the families of the two pilots who perished and with the firefighters and volunteers who continue to battle the flames. We stand by Greece".
