Skrekas welcomes complete licensing proposal for Thriasio Freight Centre investment

"The 'Thriasio' will become the biggest and first smart and green business park in SE Europe but also one of the most modern in Europe. It is a project that will establish Greece as a transit hub of international scope in logistics, offering access to hypermodern digital infrastructure and innovative automated storage solutions. But it is also a project that will primarily contribute to the development of the Greek economy and the creation of thousands of jobs," Skrekas said.

Thriasio Freight Centre CEO Vasilis Maglaras noted that the freight centre's operation will be a "vehicle through which Greece will emerge as a modern, international hub of SE Europe in logistics" and pointed out that it was the second-biggest private investment in Attica after the Ellinikon redevelopment, covering an area of 588,326 square metres.

In its final phase, the TFC aims to offer more than 26.5 hectares of facilities, of which more than 220,000 square metres will be ground-floor spaces with multiple uses, suitable for logistics and light manufacturing activities, Maglaras said.

"It is a project of which we are particularly proud as it will be developed with modern and sustainable terms for society, the economy and the environment, in order to serve the country's developmental prospects," he added.

General secretary for industry Themis Eftichidou, on her part, said it was an investment the country needed in order to further establish itself in the supply chain sector and that the ministry will do everything in its power for its speedy licensing and implementation.

According to the ministry, the project envisages the creation of 260,626 square metres of storage areas, 5,278 square metres of support operations, 42,000 square metres for a container terminal and warehouse, 7,250 square metres of roads, 5,740 square metres of railway tracks and 1,140 square metres of railway loading and unloading platforms, 165 parking bays for trucks, 1279 parking spaces for cars, 385 spaces for large loading and unloading vehicles and photovoltaic units generating 10.2 MW with a 7MW power storage system.
