Students from Yale University, led by Professor of Architectural Design, Nader Tehrani, who holds the Eero Saarinen Chair, visited the iconic building of the former airport as well as the Experience Center in Ellinikon (The Εllinikon).
According to Lamda Development, their trip took place as part of an investigation into the profound influence of US modern architecture in Greece. The Airport, a masterpiece by the famous Finnish architect Eero Saarinen, stands as a symbol of foreign architectural splendour in the 1960s.
The building was designated by the Ministry of Culture as a monument of Modern and Contemporary Architectural Heritage. It is a building of great architectural importance that expresses the modernism of the 20th century and is inspired by the extroversion of Greek culture and will be used, with respect for its history, as an exhibition center, starting a new course in time.
