Gergian gang brought dow by Hellenic Police

Featured Gergian gang brought dow by Hellenic Police

A gang of Georgians who had robbed and vandalized houses in areas of Attica was dismantled by EL.AS, arresting five of its members, among them the leader.

The perpetrators are accused that since November 2021 they had founded and joined a criminal organization that committed burglaries and thefts in areas of Attica, such as Nea Smyrni, Kallithea and Vyronas.

The action of the gang
The members of the gang would locate the target houses, which they would "mark". They then monitored and observed for cameras and alarms, observed the movements of their potential victims when they left the houses, used informers and lookouts, both before and during the burglaries, to approach and escape from their targets, they used "business" vehicles, owned by them, which they registered in other people's name.

A After picking locks, they broke into homes and grabbed valuables and other items, while ensuring the disappearance of evidence using cleaning agents.

The perpetrators used code words to avoid identification

The leader, the lookout and the housekeeper
The members of the spiral, according to the EL.AS announcement, had specific roles

A 44-year-old, who held the leading role, was present in all cases of break-ins-thefts, with the role of a chiller or natural perpetrator. He placed signs on target houses and carried out surveillance of the apartment buildings and surrounding areas. In addition, he was informed by the other members about the disposal of the stolen goods, being aware of the sums of money they obtained.
A 38-year-old, possessing special knowledge and burglary techniques, he was usually the perpetrator of the burglaries, often acting alone. He carried out reconnaissance and preparation of the target houses, while monitoring the movements of potential victims, informing the chillers accordingly. After the burglaries, he shared the loot with the leader and fled in a different direction.
A 34-year-old anda  33-year-old, "operational" members of the organization (burglars and informers), with the role of either the natural perpetrators or the shills. They checked the locks of their targets, looked for any security systems, acted out break-ins, while ensuring the disappearance of any evidence to avoid their identification.
A 33-year-old, taking advantage of her status as a domestic worker, gave information to the other members, while she contributed to their illegal activity by registering their business vehicles in the name of a relative.
The action of the domestic helper is typical in case of theft in an apartment in Vyronas. Then, the 33-year-old gave information about the theft and the perpetrators broke into the apartment.

Most of the members of the ring reportedly declared very little or "nil" income to the state, and were reportedly not found to be working.

With the money from their criminal acts, they bought vehicles, which they used in the burglaries. However, the vehicles were not in their own name, but in other persons of Georgian nationality. This was done for two reasons: Firstly, they themselves could not justify them and secondly so that the authorities could not confiscate them and therefore be deprived of property from the criminal organization.

What was confiscated
In house searches and physical searches, among other things, the following were found and seized:

One vehicle,
motorcycle,
3 laptops,
370 euros,
number of mobile phones and SIM cards,
multitude of electronic devices,
number of burglary tools,
crowbar,
multitude of watches and jewelry and
number of keys

Acording to the investigation so far, -16- cases of burglaries and thefts from houses have been solved, while their illegal economic benefit is estimated at more than 690,000 euros.
