A coordinated intervention by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, the Hellenic Police and Independent State Revenue Authority-AADE took place at 7 this morning on the beach of Agia Marina, Rhodes. The Cadaster servive of Dodecanese proceeded to seal the area where illegal constructions with umbrella and sunbeds were detected both on the beach and in the sea. In addition, it was forbidden to enter it with a relevant sign, as well as the exercise of any economic activity in this area.

It is should be noted that the process was completed in less than 48 hours, as the day before yesterday at noon, the competent services proceeded to an on-site inspection of the company, where it was found that the illegal occupation of the beach and the installation of 19 metal structures in the sea.

Subsequently, all the legal procedures were followed, the autopsy report was drawn up with the corresponding conclusion, the act of immediate removal as well as the order to seal and shut down the operation and economic activity of the area that had been illegally occupied. It was decided that the operation in question would be carried out in the morning hours in order not to create a nuisance for bathers and the overall tourist activity of the area.

 The procedure now provides for:

First, the issuing of the relevant fine within the day which, based on the new strict law enacted a few months ago, amounts to 4 times the consideration that the entrepreneur would have paid for one year if he had entered into a contract.

Secondly, the immediate removal - within 48 hours - of all illegal umbrella seats as well as the movable elements of the metal constructions under the responsibility of the entrepreneur. If this is not done, then the responsibility for removal is assumed by the Municipality.
