The official operation of "Safe Youth", designed to help young people quickly report violence, is launched on Monday, November 11, Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis, announced.
"Safe Youth" contains many uses, Chrysochoidis revealed, adding that he hopes to be a very useful tool.
He added that "together with the 10201, they are tools provided to children and adults so that, when there is a hot event, the police can be immediately reported and rushed in, so that it can deal with dangerous phenomena."
He referred to the 12,000 arrests of minors so far. "Last year we had 8,600. Ages mainly from 13 to 17. This also concerns the parents. The responsibilities of parents are very important, as there is a lack of supervision of children."
Regarding controls in bars for the consumption of alcohol by minors, he clarified that based on the current legislation, the Police is not entitled to carry out controls for alcohol, but now a relevant provision is being prepared, so that the Police has the right to do so.
"On the other hand I think we have to look at this issue mainly with the organizers of private events and parties in clubs and bars. These parties include the consumption of alcohol. The government is bringing forward a series of regulations in order to significantly improve the legislative framework," he concluded.
