The community on the small island of Kasos isin shock because of the death of a 45-year-old mother of three. The woman tragically passed away shortly after undergoing surgery at a private clinic in Athens.
According to reports, the woman, who was in good health, initially went in for a routine laparoscopic procedure to remove a fibroid. However, during the operation, the surgeon discovered an adenomyoma and proceeded to perform a full hysterectomy.
Following the extended surgery, the patient was transferred to the recovery room in a weakened state, complaining of severe abdominal pain. Her husband noticed that her IV bags were empty and alerted medical staff. Tragically, it was then discovered that she was unresponsive. Despite resuscitation attempts, she was pronounced dead.
The family is demanding answers from the clinic regarding the circumstances that led to this devastating outcome. They are awaiting the results of histological tests and seeking a clear explanation for the sudden death of their loved one.
Giannis Nikolaou, deputy mayor of Kasos and a cousin of the deceased, expressed the family's frustration with the clinic's response. "We have received no explanation from the clinic on how Maria lost her life. There has been no particular interest shown on their part," Mr. Nikolaou stated. The family remains in shock and disbelief, seeking clarity and accountability for this tragic loss.
