Femicide in Serres: 59-year-old man killed his wife
The 59-year-old perpetrator and suicide had called the Greek Police at approximately 9 a.m., stating that he had murdered his wife and claiming that he would end his life.

The Police rushed to the scene, but did not locate him there, and an investigation was launched.

Meanwhile, according to information, the woman, aged 52, was found murdered inside the couple's home, probably by drowning.

Testimonies from residents note that they were a closed couple, with the perpetrator and suicide in recent years having locked himself inside his home, and the 52-year-old working as a caregiver for the elderly.

A resident of Sitochori, Serres, reported on where the 59-year-old woman's murderer was found: "They found the man burned, outside the village, about 500 meters from the last house, in an old hut/sheepfold that had no animals or anything inside. The place caught fire and the Fire Department went there and found him burned. He burned himself, a suicide."

The woman killer was locked up in his house, he had no contact with people
Then, when asked about what he was like as a family, the man emphasized characteristically: "Look, they had a son in prison. He (the 59-year-old) was locked up in his house, I hadn't seen him for 2-3 years, he didn't go out. His wife worked in homes for the elderly. She did jobs to earn a living. Now from there on, no one can know what was going on inside the house, because it was completely closed, you had no visibility, nothing, nothing was visible inside."

Regarding whether they had contact with other villagers, the resident of Sitochori pointed out that only the woman had formal relations with some people from the village, as she worked in homes.

As for whether the 59-year-old woman killer had psychological problems, the local resident said: "Logically, when a person is locked up in the house, he will have psychological problems, why wouldn't he go out? He used to have a funeral home, but it's been 10 years since then. Then he locked himself in the house, he wouldn't go out. He did some work, mainly construction, such as tiling, plastering, but he had no contact with people, he wasn't social."
