An autopsy has failed to determine the cause of death of a 39-year-old man who was found dead on a hill in Tyrnavos after being reported missing.
Vassilis Kalogirou was reported missing on February 9th, 2025. His body was discovered on February 17th in an olive grove on a hill near the village of Tyrnavos. Initial findings suggest Kalogurou died a few days after his disappearance, but the exact circumstances remain unclear.
Kalogirou, a school psychologist, was reported missing after taking a stroll near thw Piniow river in Larissa, close to his home. He had left his mobile phone behind. Part of the mystery has to do with the body being found on difficult high ground very far from where he was last accounted for. His body was ravaged by wild animals, and he was identified by his clothes.
Authorities are awaiting the results of toxicological and histopathological tests to determine whether his death was the result of an accident, suicide, or homicide.
Kalogirou's funeral is scheduled for Wednesday in Larissa.
