Lefkada: Marriage proposal leads young woman to collapse

A romantic gesture turned into a nightmare yesterday afternoon in Englouvi, Lefkada, when a young woman collapsed in front of her partner at the moment he proposed to her.
The young couple from the Czech Republic, aged 25 and 24, had gone up to the area of the church of Prophet Elias, where the man was planning to surprise his beloved, according to ilefkada. When he knelt down and offered her the ring, the girl initially seemed to respond positively and happily. However, a few seconds later, she collapsed to the ground unconscious.
Her partner, shocked, started calling for help. An operation was immediately launched by the local authorities, in which the Fire Department, army forces and an EKAB ambulance participated, which rushed to the area and transferred the woman to the Lefkada Hospital.
The 24-year-old, after examinations and doctors fighting to keep her alive, was found to have extensive cerebral hemorrhage, was immediately intubated and is now hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit at the Hatzikostas Hospital in Ioannina in a very critical condition.
Her partner is a tragic figure, who is shocked and trying to realize that a moment of happiness turned into a tragedy and his partner is fighting for her life.
