Featured Two unimaginable tragedies with a baker and a butcher dying in work related accidents

Two work accidents within a few hours shocked the country, where a 49-year-old baker in Damasi, Larissa, and a 40-year-old butcher in Kilkis lost their lives while working.

In Damasi, Larissa, 49-year-old Zoe, a mother of two, tragically died in her bakery. According to testimonies, while she was cleaning the kneading machine, the scarf she was wearing got caught in the rollers of the machine, resulting in her being trapped and losing her life. The unfortunate woman was found by a relative, who desperately tried to free her by cutting the scarf with a knife.

“She bent down to clean the kneading machine, and her scarf was caught … It wrapped around her throat. My niece found her trapped. Then they took a knife and cut the scarf…”, a relative of the 49-year-old described to Star channel.

The woman who first found her in the bakery is in a state of shock: “I went inside and shouted Zoe, Zoe… When I saw her, she must have already left.”

The villagers describe Zoe as a loving and hardworking woman, devoted to her children and the community, who had also lost her mother a few months ago.

Work accident also in Kilkis: Butcher accidentally cut his femoral artery

A few hours later, a similar tragedy occurred in Mavroneri, Kilkis. 40-year-old butcher Nikos Theodoridis was fatally injured while cleaning meat at the back of his shop. Due to mishandling, he severed his femoral artery, resulting in a fatal hemorrhage within minutes.

Eyewitnesses from the nearby cafe ran to help him, but it was already too late. “I was shouting ‘don’t be afraid, Nikos, open your eyes!’ and then he said to me: ‘I’m leaving…’”, said a shocked woman who was next to him in his last moments.

The funeral of the unfortunate man took place in an atmosphere of sorrow, with friends and relatives saying goodbye to him. Nikos was known for his willingness to help, having even traveled to Uganda to volunteer.

In just 24 hours, two people who worked hard for their families lost their lives in workplaces.
