Featured Mummified remains found in Halkidiki baffle authorities

A horrendouw thriller is underway concerning the body found in advanced decomposition on Thursday afternoon (26/2), in the Pefkohori area of Halkidiki.

According to information from the forensic examination carried out at the Diavata Forensic Service, it was not possible to determine with certainty whether the body belongs to a man or a woman, nor the age of the victim.

The autopsy revealed that the death occurred at least four months ago. However, due to the condition of the findings, it was not possible to clarify the exact cause of death. The results of the histological and toxicological examinations are now awaited, in order to shed light on the circumstances under which the person lost his life.

At the same time, the investigations of the Hellenic Police are in full swing to collect evidence that will lead to the solution of the mystery. Most scenarios converge on the version of the criminal act, while DNA tests will reveal whether the body belongs to a person who has been declared missing.

It is recalled that the body was found in an agricultural forest area during work, which immediately alerted the authorities. Specifically, the president of the Pefkohori community, along with another person, were confronted with the macabre sight when they saw bags containing the body and, in a close distance, a suitcase with a blanket and traces of blood.

The president of Pefkohori, Giorgos Tsikouridis, who notified the authorities, told protothema.gr that around 17:30, as they were leaving the work site, they spotted a wrapped bag and the suitcase next to it. In fact, they realized it was a person when they saw a hand protruding, which was wearing a ring – probably a wedding ring.
