Egyptian illegal immigrant arrested for sexual assaults on women in Piraeus

A 36-year-old Egyptian illegal immigrant man, who was arrested by officers of the Hellenic Police on Monday afternoon (16/3), is accused of one attempted rape and six cases of sexual assault against women.
Initially, the 36-year-old was arrested for disobedience and violence against employees as well as for the Aliens Act as he lacked legal documents for staying in the country.
But then he was transferred to the Piraeus Sub-Directorate for Investigation and Detection of Crimes, where, from the investigation, it was revealed that he is the perpetrator of one case of attempted rape and six cases of sexual harassment.
In recent times, the 36-year-old had spread terror in the wider area of Piraeus and Korydallos as he had carried out several sexual assaults.
The accused is expected to be brought before the prosecutor of the Piraeus Prosecutor’s Office today.
