Drug trafficking in school and weapons - How the 16-year-old Sudanese had drawn the attention of authorities
The 16-year-old, according to the authorities, had a key role in the gang that trafficked drugs in schools and had been dismantled in December 2024 by the Athens Crime Prosecution and Investigation Sub-Directorate.
The police had received information at the time that he was storing drugs in his house and then, following orders from his parents, supplying the other members of the gang with cannabis.
The trafficking took place in the common courtyard of the schools (middle and high school), while, based on this information, they intended to distribute over 300 packages of cannabis to students who would participate in a five-day trip.
Following this information, a police operation was carried out, during which the following items were seized in the apartment where he lived: a nylon package with heroin weighing 206 grams, a nylon package with cannabis weighing 282 grams, a nylon package with cannabis weighing 219 grams, a nylon package with 319 divided bags of cannabis, weighing 908 grams, over 43,000 euros, precision scales, etc.
A few months before this case, specifically on 25/7/2024, he had been arrested by police officers of the DIAS for possession of weapons.
The police officers had arrested him following a signal at the Immediate Action Center for a person who was at the intersection of Kythnou and Travlantoni streets, and had a weapon with him.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found him sitting on a terrace with other people. In his left pocket was the handle of a pistol, which, as was determined, was a plastic one with a magazine, while in his right pocket he had a 17-centimeter knife.
According to information, on December 13, 2023, he had been involved in an incident that had taken place at the school he attended (where, as described above, he was trafficking drugs).
He himself had testified at the time that “I got into an argument with them (meaning two young men of Egyptian origin) because I was informed that they were harassing girls in the courtyard. (Mentioned the name of one) hit me in the face with a stick and caused abrasions.”
One of the minors had testified that one of the two with whom the now 16-year-old had argued had approached her and pulled her hair for no reason, while another minor had testified that the second had approached her and slapped her in the chest and buttocks.
