89 year old gunman sows terror in public services

An 89-year-old who sowed terror in social security fund EFKA and the Court of Appeal on Tuesday morning (28/4) was finally arrested shortly after 16:30.
Hellenic Police - ELAS had launched a manhunt in Athens, in Kalamata, his place of origin, in KTEL and train stations and finally managed to locate him in a hotel in Patras where he went by taxi.
According to information, the elderly man was arrested at the hotel, while he had a loaded .38 revolver on him.

According to information, the police forces in Patras were on alert shortly after the elderly man was not located in Athens, as the scenario being examined is that the 89-year-old intended to go to France, specifically Strasbourg, after Italy, regarding the issue of his pension, which he said he was not receiving.
The man, one day before the bloody incident, reportedly boarded a taxi bound for the Court of Appeals on Loukareos Street and told the driver: "You'll see what I'll do tomorrow." The elderly man is said to be a scavenger and until recently was hosted by his niece.

The elderly man took a taxi and went to the EFKA of Kerameikos.
The 89-year-old, after opening fire with the rifle he had in his possession and injuring an employee, left the EFKA building at a fast pace.
A little later, the perpetrator arrived at the Court of Appeals in Loukareos and shot, resulting in the injury of four other female clerks of the Court of First Instance.
In both the EFKA building in Kerameikos and the Court of Appeals on Loukareos Street, no one stopped him to check him.

Meanwhile, the 89-year-old who caused panic and terror in the center of Athens had gone to a mini market the day before yesterday afternoon, with information indicating that he had made an appointment with a taxi to go to EFKA today.
The store from which he called is located in the Ano Patisia area where he had been living recently, as he was hosted by his niece who was also the one who informed the authorities of his identity. The information indicates that the elderly man did not have a mobile phone in his possession and made the calls he wanted from various stores.
According to ELAS sources, the 89-year-old had planned the two attacks he carried out today (28/4) on the offices of EFKA and the Court of Appeal. In fact, after the attack on the Court of Appeal in Loukareos he left some letters addressed to newspapers.
In particular, the elderly man left an envelope on the outside of which the following message is written: “25-4-2026. You will read in the newspapers, the fat envelope with over 150 Documents, Tomorrow”. After this message he mentions the names of four newspapers and signs with his name and the area where he lives.
