Criminals strip firefighters' cars, while they battled blazes

While firefighters are fighting a titanic battle on the front lines of the fire, criminals found the opportunity to break into their cars.
According to the complaint of the Panhellenic Union of Forest Firefighters, unknown perpetrators opened fire trucks that were parked in the service area.
In fact, as they report, even their wheels had been removed.
The firefighters' complaint
"While the Forest Firefighters are continuously fighting the large fires throughout the territory, operating under extremely difficult and exhausting conditions, colleagues of the 1st E.M.O.D.E., returning to the service after completing their mission, were faced with an unacceptable image. Their vehicles, parked in the service area, had been vandalized, while in several cases even their wheels had been removed.
This incident highlights, once again, the serious problems facing the largest operational unit of the Fire Department. Our Association has repeatedly warned about the inappropriate building facilities and the complete lack of basic infrastructure, in a space that hosts more than 300 firefighters, as well as the METP,” the post states, among other things.
