The wife of the Afghan man accused of murdering British woman Elizabeth Ross in Kypseli reportedly gave answers in her testimony.

In her statement, she allegedly referred to her relationship with the accused, their contacts with the 38-year-old British woman, as well as what happened during the controversial period of the murder and the discovery of her body in Kypseli.

According to information, the woman said that she met the British woman in February 2026 through joint volunteer activities and church meetings.

Based on what she allegedly testified, the last time she saw the British woman was on July 12, while her last contact with her was on July 15.

As she stated, on July 15, she went to bed early, while in the early hours of the morning she found that her husband was not at home. Through the location on her mobile phone, she found that he was in the apartment in Exarchia.

Her husband, according to information, explained to her that after a match he watched in the cafeteria, he went to the apartment to use the toilet.

The departure for Arachova and the “strange” answers
She also allegedly referred to the couple’s decision to leave Athens on July 18 for Arachova and return on the evening of July 19.

According to the information, that day her husband appeared upset, telling her that he had been informed of the death of a relative in India.

On July 29, she allegedly received two answers, that the British woman would visit friends and then travel to Turkey. However, the way of writing, the level of English and the behavior were not normal, as she herself noted.

On the same day, her husband went back to the apartment in Exarchia for an hour, but the foreigner who had an appointment with him, according to him, did not show up.

Due to the above, she began to suspect her husband's involvement in Ross's murder and that is why she left and went to the hotel.

Regarding the accused, she said that he is a professional boxer and has developed voluntary action, but also that he is a person who does not accept his own mistakes and responsibilities, even if he is shown evidence.

The accused had given her 2,550 euros and an iPhone 17 Pro, which the wife handed over to the police.

At the same time, he allegedly also filed complaints about threatening messages with photos of her and her baby, as well as threats against her family.

The 26-year-old Afghan was remanded in custody after his confession
According to information, during his confession to the interrogator, the 26-year-old Afghan respected his right to remain silent. He believes that the case file is incomplete and expects new evidence to be incorporated. At the same time, through his lawyer, he asked the investigator to present the British woman's medical file to the interrogation.

In his statement, the Afghan's lawyer, Christos Erdas, states: "Our law firm has undertaken the defense of the 26-year-old Afghan who is accused of the murder of Elisabeth Ross, who was found dead in the Kypseli area on 18/7/2026. With respect to the family of the deceased and at the same time to the accused himself, whose rights have been violated all these days through leaked information and documents from the case file, and most importantly the very presumption of his innocence, we should mention the following.

In order to restore the truth, during his defense, our client exercised his right to remain silent, pending the inclusion of the forensic medical report and the toxicological and histological examinations of the deceased in the case file. He also submitted requests to include documents in the case file through legal aid that concern the deceased and relate to findings that arose from her personal belongings.

It should be noted that the examination of the deceased upon her discovery did not reveal any injuries and there is no apparent cause of death.
