Samaras Statement on Murder and Violence
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, in a statement published today, in very dramatic tones laid out his position on the murder of 34 year old Pavlos Fyssas by a neo-nazi sympathizer.
The PM spoke of his efforts to end the uphill struggle of the Greek people, which is washed downhill by violence,.
The statement:
We all know that the country is in an exceedingly crucial point in time. And that our people are undergoing great sacrifices, to beat the crisis, and achieve economic resurgence.
This is not the time for internal squabbles, or tension.
Any political disagreements are resolved through democratic dialogue, not through inflammatory disagreements, nor through violence, no matter where it stems from, and even more, not through blood. This divides us and compromises Greece abroad.
As happened with the inhuman murder of Pavlos Fyssas, which all Greeks denounce abhorrently.
I'm fighting and will do so till to the finish to end the uphill sacrifices of the Greek people
However, the backsliding of violence is destroying any prospect Greece has of attaining what it deserves: growth, peace, and prosperity. Everyone must respect the people, teir toils, and their sacrifices.
And of course, this government is determined not to allow the scions of the nazis to poison our social life, to commit crimes, to terrorize, and undermine the foundations of the country that gave birth to Democracy!
Democracy is stronger than its enemies imagine it to be.
