SYRIZA candidate for regional councilor, for Xanthi, Thrace, Ahmed Kurt has quit after causing yet another uproar in the main opposition, as he has been shown to be a fan of Turkish extreme nationalist leader Devlet Bahceli.
Bahceli is the leader of the right wing extremists known as “Grey Wolves.” Logically, Greek political parties and especially those on the left of the political spectrum would want nothing to do with specific political expression.
Yet SYRIZA has once again committed a foul, the third in this electoral bout by including an alleged Bahceli supporter in its ranks for regional elections.
The photographs reposted by komotinipress.gr from Kurt's twitter account, were taken last December, but are taking their toll now, as they show Kurt with Bahceli in amiable poses.
Ahmet Kurt is also president of the Xanthi Turkish Union and has expressed his admiration for the decision of the Friendship-Equality-Peace (DEB) party founded by Ahmed Sadik to run for the elections to European parliament. He went as far as to say that he will support the DEB with all his “power” while running on the ticket of SYRIZA [!?!].
