- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Public spending for health is down by almost 50% in 2012 since the highest level reached in 2009.
In 2009, the year the crisis for Greece began, the ministry of labor and social welfare spent through social security providers over 8.3 billion euros. These funds were curtailed to a little over 4.5 million in 2012 reaching levels of 2003.
The information was relayed to parliament in a document sent by labor minister Yannis Vroutsis offering analytical health cost data from 1974 to 2012, after PASOK MP Pyrros Demas requested said data.
