Skorpios glitters again

The preparations for the big event started several months ago, which included the renovation of the buildings that will host the Rybolvovlev family and their guests today. Even the heavy rain that falls in the area “has been taken care of” as officials note.

Today, the new owner of Scorpios, Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolvovlev, celebrates the 25th birthday of his daughter Ekaterina.

Photographers and paparazzi from around the world will once again besiege the island to capture at least a second of a completely different life, the life “Scorpios” dictated to the world jet set for years.

Russian multi-billionaire will host the “Party of the Year” as it is called by magazines and blogs and will bring back the glamor of the island that was once one of the world jet set spots. Beyonce and Lady Gaga are expected to sing at the party.

Ekaterina’s birthday have evoked many memories. Her 200 friends will swim in the sea, where Jackie Kennedy swam, and will walk around the area where Christina and Alexandros Onassis played when they were kids.

The island's "first lady", the wife of Dmitry Rybolvovlev, Katia, said she had visited the area years ago and was fascinated by its natural beauty.  Her love for horses had drawn her attention to Athena Onassis and she said she met her at a horse race where she told her "If you  ever want to sell it, just let me know". 

Katia even shot photos on the beach where Jackie Kennedy used to swim, dressed in a rather "Jackie" look.

Moreover, the family yacht is named after her daughter "My Anna" as the Onassis yacht was named after Aristotle's daughter "Christina".

It is expected that representatives of the Principality of Monaco, namely Prince Albert, his wife Charlene and his niece Charlotte Casiraghi, who is a very good friend of the birthday girl, Ekaterina Rybolvovleva, will be among the guests.

During the celebrations, the whole island of Scorpios will be illuminated. According to the publication in Ethnos newspaper, Ekaterina has requested the inclusion of Greek, French and Russian dishes on the menu. The wine will come from the neighboring Lefkada Island and the champagne from France.

Private jets will land at the airport in Aktio and luxury yachts will anchor around the island, while increased security measures have been taken.

The Rybolvovlev family party will again turn Onassis’ "heaven on earth" into the center of social life. Scorpios was visited by various representatives of the Kennedy family, Maria Callas, the ship-owning Livanos family, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, kings, holders of other noble titles and many more, as Greek reporter recalls.
