Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias met with his Israeli counterpart Israel Katz in Athens on Thursday and discussed security in the region, comparing notes on aggression by Turkey in Greece's case and Iran in Israel's.

"Greece provides strong political support to the project for Cyprus' electrical interconnection with Crete and Israel as Projects of Common Interest (PCI), in order to end Cyprus' electrical isolation and link the island with the European Union's electricity grids," Environment and Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said on Friday in an interview with the Cyprus News Agency.

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, received the leadership of the American-Jewish organization AIPAC, in New York, on the sidelines of his participation to the works of the UN General Assembly.
