The Municipality of Acharnes has issued a statement expressing deep concern over the dramatic decline in the population of red deer (Cervus elaphus) in Parnitha National Park.

In a crucial decision for the balance of the Parnitha ecosystem, the Animal Protection Prosecutor has ordered the removal of wolves living on the mountain, as part of a broader investigation that is underway.

The remains of the ancient Greek fortress of Fyli on Parnitha Mountain will be supported and restored under a Ministry of Culture plan to start soon, the ministry said on Thursday.
