The port authorities proceeded with the arrest of two Romanians for espionage on Monday afternoon as photos of the Salamis Naval fort were found on their mobile phones.

The Battle of Salamis was a naval battle fought between an Alliance of Greek city-states and the Achaemenid Empire of Persia in September 480 BC in the straits between the mainland and Salamis, an island in the Saronic Gulf near Athens. It marked the high-point of the second Persian invasion of Greece which had begun in 480 BC.

The importance of the experiential theater seminars "Introduction to the ancient theater and the work of Euripides" in Salamina, for the promotion of the island as a world historical and cultural destination, was pointed out by the president of the Hellenic Tourism Organization-EOT, Angela Gerekou, during a press conference.
