Greece has taken over the presidency of the United Nations Security Council for May, and its Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Evangelos Sekeris, outlined the Council's agenda during a press briefing.
Europe maintains a stance of wait-and-see, offering well-wishing statements about a smooth democratic transition and the protection of all national and religious minorities in Syria. This is because the downfall of Assad took European capitals by surprise, and they currently have no access to any of the major players involved in the “great game” that has unfolded.
The Commission of Investigation Concerning Greek Frontier Incidents was established following a UN Security Council resolution on 19 December 1946. The Security Council had met following a Greek Government's appeal against the governments Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania on the grounds that they supported the struggle of the Democratic Army of Greece (DSE), which fought the civil war in Greece and threatened the territorial integrity and legitimacy of the country.
