Authorities are investigating suspected arson behind three simultaneous wildfires that erupted on the Greek island of Chios, as exhausted firefighters battled through the night to contain blazes that continue to threaten homes, farmland, and vital infrastructure.

Greek police are interrogating a 40-year-old Turkish national, allegedly affiliated with the notorious Turkish criminal organization known as the "Hawks."

A broad meeting chaired by Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Vasilis Kikilias was held at the Chios fire department on Tuesday, during the minister's visit to the island.
