Glorious AHI event in Athens at the GB Hotel - Ambassador Gilfoyle and ministers present

“Kalispera - Good evening,” said the new ambassador, since the first word she learned in Greek is her favorite greeting.

The ambassador participated in an event of the Hellenic American Institute at the “Great Britain” hotel, opening the proceedings with her speech. Ms. Guilfoyle reiterated that Greece and the United States are deepening their cooperation, with a focus on the energy sector, and she momentarily interrupted her speech when a loud cough was heard in the room. “Bless you,” she said to the guest, causing laughter from those present.

The discussion on Greek-American relations was attended by Dora Bakoyannis, Professor Konstantinos Filis and the president of Greeks for Trump Christos Marafatsos, moderated by ERT journalist Fani Papathanasiou.

Mrs. Bakoyannis received a warm applause from the audience when, commenting on the interview of the American Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack in “Kathimerini”, she emphasized that Greece and Turkey do not need a third country to resolve their differences.

The event was attended, among others, by Ministers Takis Theodorikakos and Thanos Plevris, Dimitris Avramopoulos and Tasos Hadjivassiliou.

Kimberly Guilfoyle's son, Ronan Vilenci, attended the forum wearing a pin with the Greek and American flags on his lapel. This pin is offered to guests of the Greek Independence Day celebration at the White House.

Closing the event, host Nick Laryngakis, president of the Hellenic American Institute, which is based in Washington and promotes Greek and Cypriot issues in the United States, thanked the guests and especially Kimberly Guilfoyle. "We have been doing this event for so many years, but this is the first time it has had so many people, and that is because of you," Mr. Laryngakis told the ambassador.
