Featured Sotiris Delis, a former PM of Greek descent in Sweden, was elected to the Jönköping Municipal Council.

Sotiris Delis, a politician of Greek descent, was elected to the municipal council of his area of residence (Jönköping) during the triple Swedish elections held on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

The Greek-origin politician and former Member of the Swedish Parliament (representing the Moderate Party – *Moderaterna*) had confirmed in interviews with "Voice of Greece" (*Foni tis Elladas*) that he was once again seeking the public's vote for local government office.

On September 17, 2026, Mr. Delis appeared on ERT’s program "Our Global Voice" (*I Pagkosmia Foni Mas*) to analyze the country's overall election results. He commented on voting trends and the center-left coalition's apparent narrow victory at the national level.

Due to Sweden's complex seat-allocation system (involving both preferential voting and proportional lists), the final confirmation of individual municipal councilor elections was delayed; although the initial impression was that Mr. Delis had failed to secure a seat, the final count ultimately confirmed his election as a Municipal Councilor for Jönköping.

Mr. Sotiris Delis is an honorary member of Pa.D.E.E. (World Inter-Parliamentary Association of Hellenism)
