Greece emerges as a pioneer in terms of the percentage of businesses that innovate, and indeed with quite a difference from the European average.
Trikala in the past was considered a quiet backwater sedate rural town one would never associate with innovation. Nowadays it has become a small city known for innovation, tech friendly environs, and big ideas. Located in the central Greek area of Thessaly Trikala has been consistently pursuing the status of a ‘smart city’, one vested in technology and innovation that ameliorates life in the community.
Greece was 22nd out of 28 EU countries in innovation in 2016, according to the main findings of the latest Innovation Scoreboard, published by the European Commission.
