Two people were arrested on Saturday afternoon in Thrace, as part of an operation by the Northern Greece Organized Crime Sub-Directorate, on charges of aggravated possession of a weapon.

"The Muslim Minority of Thrace is a religious minority. The Treaty of Lausanne of 1923, which governs its legal status, does not allow for multiple interpretations, and its religious-not its ethnic-character is indisputable," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized on Thursday in its response to the Turkish Foreign Ministry regarding the Muslim minority of Thrace.

Eleven Greek-American youths are learning Greek in Rodopi and are hosted at the Metropolis camps in Kryoneri. Their welcoming ceremony took place in early August as part of the 3rd Summer Camp “Return to your Roots”, in the presence of Metropolitan Panteleimon, who delivered a speech and welcomed the participants.
