The numbers of migrants landing in Greece from Turkey is starting to creep up again, showing efforts to close off the route are coming under strain, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Friday.

The Greek Tourism Confederation expects the number of visitors to rise to a record 25 million this year and bring 800 million euros ($897 million) of extra income, Andreas Andreadis, president of the industry lobby group, said in an interview in Athens on Tuesday.

The EU is attempting to clear a legal path for Greece to routinely send asylum seekers back to Turkey, in a move that would dismay Ankara and endanger a €3bn action plan to stem migration flows.
