Atletico destroys Olympiakos 4-0
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Atletico Madrid has qualified for the Champions League knockout phase with a 4-0 win over Olympiakos, at the Vicente Calderón.
Mario Mandžukić's hat trick all but sealed the fate of the Spanish giants, who dominated the Greek side throughout most of the match.
It took the team just nine minutes to start proceedings, when Raul Garcia tapped-in a goal going straight past Olympiakos' suprised goalie.
Olympiakos created a couple of chances but Atletico doubled their lead shortly before the break through Mandzukic.
At the hour mark, Olympiakos were reeling, as Mandzukic scored not one but two goals in quick succession, spelling the end to any comeback from the Reds.
The result means Atletico need only a point from their final game at second-placed Juventus to ensure they top Group A.
Olympiakos will play Malmo on December 9.
