Giannis Antetokounmpo: Frank and unassuming on Greek TV

Giannis Antetokounmpo granted a rare interview to Grigoris Arnaoutoglou on The 2Night Show, which aired shortly after midnight on Monday, with the host talking about one of his greatest successes, as the “Greek Freak” rarely appears on shows, while the biggest American late night shows have been vying for him for a long time.
With simplicity and honesty, the top Greek basketball player revealed moments from his childhood, when he and his family watched “Poly on Sunday”. “I want to tell you, Mr. Grigoris, that I am a big fan. I used to watch Poly on Sunday with my mother and my brothers. We would go sell things in villages and my father wanted us to come back quickly to watch the show”, said the Milwaukee Bucks star, moved.
He spoke about his childhood in Athens and Sepolia, as a child of immigrants. The difficult economic reality that his family had to face. His faith in God as well as meeting the person who accompanies him everywhere, his wife Mariah.
Speaking of his wife he said that the first time he saw her he pictured being married to her. As his parents liked her things went perfect for him and they finally became a couple. He did, reveal that at first she had rejected his approaches, which were timid as he confessed, but after wooing her from afar for a year, he finally clinched her approval.
From a competitive point of view, the “Greek Freak” referred to his career in the NBA, its past, present and future, as well as what is to come with him and the Milwaukee Bucks. He made special mention of his manager, the person who has accompanied him for over a decade and is there in every decision he makes. While, he revealed that he is not concerned about staying in America forever, he wants to end his career in Greece!
