Greek inflation rate slowed to 3.0% in November

Greek inflation slowed further to 3.0% in November from 3.4% in October and 8.5% in November last year, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday. This development reflected mostly a decline in natural gas prices (-53.2%) and in fuel-lubricants, while price increases continued in food items (+9%, with olive oil up 31.4%) and other product and services.
 

Supreme Court prosecutor intervenes in case of 'murderous attack' against policemen

Supreme Court (Areios Paghos) Prosecutor Georgia Adilini on Friday ordered the Piraeus public prosecutors' department to supervise the investigation into what she called "a murderous attack on police officers" outside the "Melina Mercouri" indoor stadium and to determine whether automatically prosecutable offences had occurred, such as criminal organisation, attempted murder, incitement to commit crimes, violence and others, as well as the investigation to locate and arrest those responsible.

Greece and Turkey sign 'Athens Declaration', pledging to refrain from actions that create tension

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during their meeting in Athens on Thursday, signed the "Athens Declaration on Friendly Relations and Good-Neighbourliness" on behalf of their respective governments after "having chaired the 5th meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council between the Republic of Türkiye and the Hellenic Republic on December 7th, 2023, in Athens, in a spirit of goodwill and cooperation."
