Paros is achieving a “shift” towards high-income tourism, especially in off-peak months, as recorded by international tourism market players.
Paros as a luxury destination
According to an announcement by the Municipality of Paros, the first recognition came from Tour Operator CV Villas, where, in a list of the 20 least-known luxury destinations in Europe for 2025, the Cycladic island is the first from Greece to occupy 6th place with an index of 66.13/100.
The study analyzed travel reviews from lesser-known European destinations, taking into account the frequency of the word “luxury”, the rating of the reviews and their total volume, to create a “Luxury Index”. The study reveals that the island garners numerous positive reviews with references to luxurious experiences, focusing on its architecture, authentic flavors and high-end accommodation facilities.
At the same time, according to the analysis of Ferryscanner, the ferry ticket platform, Americans mainly choose destinations that offer peace and relaxation, while the British experiment with new, unexplored island destinations.
Specifically, between January 1 and May 31, Paros rose to second place in the preferences of Americans, while from the United Kingdom it rose to first place on the list.
It is noted that in a survey conducted by Ipsos on behalf of Visa, tourists from the United States will choose to visit Greece in July (21%), the British seem to prefer May (17%) and June (27%), while the French choose to travel mainly in September (20%).
At the same time, visitors from the US are expected to spend an average of 3,040 euros per person on their trips to Greece this year, British tourists 1,900 euros per person and French tourists, who are also included in the public visiting Paros, plan to spend an average of 2,550 euros per person.
Luxury tourism is expected mainly from visitors from the US.
Paros is achieving a “shift” towards high-income tourism, and even in off-peak months, as recorded by international tourism market players
In his statement, the Deputy Mayor for Tourism of the Municipality of Paros, Thodoris Bizas, emphasized: “The strategic orientation of Paros to ensure positive results not only in arrivals, but also in revenue, and even in off-peak months, seems, based on irrefutable criteria, to be successful. We continue to work towards the qualitative upgrade of incoming tourism and, in this, we have the hospitality and catering professionals as allies, thanks to the high-quality services they offer.
