Tri-State Area's Severe Weather Causes Damage

Translation By Lisa Darilis

Serious damage was caused by Monday's severe weather, which hit the Tri-State area beginning in the afternoon hours. Although the tornado warnings did not come into realization, the heavy rains and strong winds were enough to cause damages and injuries on central roadways, although not all accidents have been completely reported yet.

The Paramus area of New Jersey was especially hit, with dozens of trees down, notably on East Ridgewood Avenue. A tree even fell right onto the entrance of someone's home.

Meanwhile, in Suffolk County, Long Island at Dix Hills, a tree fell onto a moving vehicle, with its driver literally avoiding injury at the last minute.

Aside from fallen trees, power lines have also been damaged, such as in the borough of Emerson in Bergen County, NJ, where downed power lines even caught on fire.

As expected, air travel was also affected by these severe storms. Flights were delayed at JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia airports.
