Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo, is experiencing legal problems in India, due to published pictures of her photo shoot at the Taj Mahal, a holy sanctuary for Hindus in India. Ms. Culpo is in violation of what's called India's Heritage Act, wherein permits have to be issued for such pictures to be taken at this site.
It was released from Indian authorities that Ms. Culpo, along with the others who participated, had not acquired a legal permit to take these pictures, which are now clear evidence for a case against her. In addition, Ms. Culpo is in danger of receiving a sentence of 2 years imprisonment and a fine of $ 1,600 (or 100,000 rupees in Indian currency). This is a fine she is now unable to raise due to her insult to India.
Her legal counsel has strongly advised Ms. Culpo to not make any comments on her case at this time.
