Apotheon: Play as ancient hero on an ancient urn
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
After 4 years of development, Apotheon, a heroic action game set within the vibrant world of Ancient Greek Mythology is finally out.
The game, which was released in early February by AlienTrap, is already getting rave reviews, due to its gorgeous art style, its interesting plot and its music, created by Marios Aristopoulos, an Athens-based composer and sound designer.
What makes this game unique is that it has been inspired by Greek pottery of the past, featuring a beautiful black and orange terracotta background. Although there are many ancient temples and towns in the game, each has its own distinctive feel and, as a result, the player never loses interest during Apotheon’s six to seven hour length.
As humanity’s last champion, you must pass through the land of the dead, infiltrate mount Olympus and end the wrath of the Gods. With sword, spear, and shield in hand, you will sneak, conspire, loot and battle your way through majestic palaces and chthonic depths as you climb towards godhood.
