Today, Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the NATO Summit.
The meeting took place in an excellent atmosphere.
The discussion centered on regional developments in the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
The American Secretary of State emphasized Greece’s reliability as a partner and ally within NATO in the Eastern Mediterranean and the importance he places on Greece’s role as a factor of stability in the region. Mr. Gerapetritis referred to the U.S. efforts to de-escalate tensions in the broader Middle East area.
Both stressed their determination to strengthen the strategic bilateral relations.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of interregional cooperation as a means to promote stability and development.
The American Secretary of State expressed his desire to visit Greece in the near future.
