Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Thursday toured Ermou Street in central Athens, the city's main shopping high street, and was briefed on the recent vandalism targeting the street's shops.

A force of 200 police officers will be deployed to patrol the centre of Athens and intervene where needed to avoid incidents, Alternate Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas said on Friday in an interview with ANT1 TV.

The US Ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt informed the President of major opposition party, New Democracy (ND), Kyriakos Mitsotakis that the FBI investigation into the Novartis case involved no probe into Greek politicians.
