Greece does not provoke or threaten anyone, it defends its sovereignty and its sovereign rights based on International Law, the International Law of the Sea and international treaties, diplomatic sources stressed late on Wednesday regarding new statements made by Turkish officials.

Turkey must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all EU member states, the European Commission emphasized on Wednesday, a statement included in the Commission's report on enlargement.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg straddling the fence on issues of Greek – Turkish relations, avoiding to condemn Turkish provocations, and calling on both sides "to resolve their differences in the Aegean in a spirit of trust and allied solidarity."
